Joutovirta
The three main themes are hard, soft and circulation. Hard refers to the area’s rocky landscape and reusable materials. Soft represents the open water and vegetation. Circulation shows the circular economy, bio-remediation and the variability of building typology. Together, these three main themes form the Joutovirta, which runs through the whole area along the open stream, bringing new life to former wastelands by making use of waste materials. In addition to the main leisure route, the Idle route leads through the area in a variety of atmospheres. Along the Joutovirta there are new buildings with recycled materials, disassembled industrial buildings and repurposed elements such as cars and containers, integrated into the environment. Joutovirta uses waste as a resource.
