Vaasa ecoscape envisioning a green and balanced island
The aim of the project is to preserve the natural characteristics of the site as much as possible, maintaining the forest to respect its strength and not disrupt already established ecosystems. The waterbodies have been improved in order to collect water and clean it. The vacant space left by the demolished hotel offers an opportunity to establish the first phase of housing and concentrate residential density in this area, gradually distributing it in subsequent phases, ranging from medium to low.
The buildings have been designed using materials, colours, and construction systems that respect the surroundings.
The core system of the urban development are the courtyards, the social activators, where the community find place to gather, relax together and plant their food.
