The Leap
Introduction
Lahti sports shrine is beautiful and special part of the city of Lahti. At the same time the sports shrine today is dominated by it’s pure functional needs and there is a lack of urban liveness on the site. The goal of the project is to integrate, connect and attract and to ensure harmonious growth not only of the venue itself but also the city and peo¬ple through the project site. Starting with a strong entrance and delibarately balanced elements of street, piazza and green spac¬es it is an attempt to create vibrant space, which would encourage people to spend longer periods in the urban space when the venue is not happening. Sports center which is creating more human encounters and op¬portunities.
Overarching idea
Overarching concept – the leap- of the project is to create a public space which is framed with a strong conceptual element of entrance portico creating a spa
