Rings

Hyvinkää is a unique railway town with a rich heritage and a pleasant compactness. The human scale and remnants of the historical city centre structure remind us of the garden city ideals. In our proposal, 3 Rings, weaving together the centre of Hyvinkää allows to create a garden city of the future. In the recent years, the location of the city centre has moved towards the northeast. This development is balanced by introducing three new ring-like fabrics: a new central loop-route for light traffic, a new bypassing ring road for motor traffic, and a continuous loop of green spaces. The new station hub built on a bridge-like deck on top of the railway tracks acts as the new highlight of the city, and a new green heart is created in the very centre of the city for all locals and visitors.
