RE:wild

RE:wild is a prototype for sustainable urban transformation, turning a neglected industrial strip into a resilient, nature-first neighborhood. The project balances densification with ecological regeneration, creating diverse housing while restoring habitats and biodiversity. Green and blue infrastructure manages stormwater visibly and playfully. Mobility prioritizes walking and cycling with strong connections to Turku’s wider network, minimizing car use. A mix of housing integrates with adaptively reused industrial buildings, preserving local identity and reducing waste. Community spaces, public squares, and accessible wild zones foster recreation and inclusivity. RE:wild shows how cities can grow in socially inclusive, climate-resilient ways, creating neighborhoods that are not just livable, but regenerative.
