Ready – Set – Ski!
Our vision was to create an inviting, versatile and adjustable area for Salpausselkä sports area. Main focus was to transform the multipurpose hall, stadium, water sport centre and ice rink to a functional and attractive complex inviting people around the year. The overall colorful appearance is inspired by the colors of the existing blue stadium and the red-brick-buildings on Svinhufvudinkatu. Furthermore, our goal was to reduce traffic jams during event times with better managed roads and utilize pedestrian and bicycle routes.
Instead of focusing on solely buildings on the ground, we have utilized underground space and the airspace as well. Already planned developments have also been taken into account in our proposal. Altogether our design connects different functions and brings them together with consistent color and material themes.
