Homeland

This proposal “homeland” expands the existing Hyvinkää city centre with urban, small-scale construction. The new buildings are designed with flexibility and multi-functionality in mind: many of the spaces lend themselves to a variety of uses, and the buildings can also be expanded upward. The blocks consist of townhouse-type units of varying heights, creating a bastion-like structure. Ground floors are primarily used for commercial and common spaces Individuality of the units allows for variation in the facades, creating a street where there is something interesting to see every 8-10 meters.
In the proposal, some of the central areas are turned into pedestrian zone, and car traffic is directed underground in these areas. The city is also enriched through outdoor spaces accessible to all, such as a new playground adjoined by a sports park and a centrally located shared garden area.
