Bäckbo

The Bäckbo concept centers on creating a sustainable, inclusive community where all generations connect naturally. Designed around three main hubs—a lively Generations Park, a nature-oriented Stormwater Park and a vibrant Event Square—the plan integrates flexible housing, ecological networks, and diverse public spaces. Phased development with temporary uses encourages early community engagement and adaptable living, fostering a vibrant neighborhood from the very start.
At its core, the plan enables a good life: everyday encounters, access to nature, opportunities for participation, and a sense of belonging—all woven into the fabric of the area through thoughtful design.

  1. In a neighborhood of detached houses too much and too large buildings along Vähäheikkiläntie and lack of park areas.

  2. This very urban concept with many buildings close to each other is a total contradiction to the larger neighbourhood which is characterized be scattered detached houses. This doesn’t fit to the area at all.
A meadow with a huge diversity of species is replaced by a surface sealing the ground with concrete buildings and by monocultural grass.

  3. Turun Puistomäen omakotiyhdistys on ottanut kantaa esityksiin ja toimittanut kaupungin kaavoitusarkkitehti Päivi Siposelle 30.8.2025 yhdistyksen alustavan näkemyksen sekä jäseniltä kerätyn palautteen koontina.

The Turku Puistomäki Homeowners’ Association has expressed its views on the proposals and, on Aug, 30th 2025, submitted to the city’s planning architect, Päivi Siponen, the association’s preliminary position along with a compilation of feedback received from its members.
